Your post
Hi Yuyang! It was really interested hearing about your interest in coding. I’ve personally never tried coding, but I’ve taught it to my students using scratch. As discussed in module 2, we are motivated by things we know we are good at, and the only way to get good is by learning more. So motivation does not always lead to learning, but learning leads to motivation (Merill, n.d.). This reminds me of your learning journey through coding. While on the topic of motivation, I appreciate your video about getting addicted to studying. I’ve been trying to spend less time on my phone to focus more of learning and improving as a teacher, so this was helpful. Especially when they said to try and see your textbook as a treasure map, where each page has the potential to change the way you see the world. This is exactly how I’ve been trying to approach my readings for each class I’m taking. In the video, they clearly laid out how to become less addicted to your phone and the dopamine hits is provides. However, sometimes this feels easier said than done. Most of us are genuinely addicted. I’m wondering if you have any strategies that have worked for you that weren’t mentioned in the video?
Your blog
I like that your blog has a stagnant home page that describes who you are and what the blog is for. This, paired with your relaxing cover image, gives your blog an organized feel that is not overwhelming. I wonder if you are able to combine your ‘home’ page and your ‘about me’ page as they have the same content? Additionally, I like that your course category has an original name (‘learning design’), but I wonder if you could add ‘posts’ to the end to make it more clear that that is where your blog posts will be kept? From there, you could also add sub-categories for peer reviews.
Iām not sure if including all of the pieces from the āwhat to include in your blog postā checklist is part of the blog post rubric, but you may want to check if a featured image, list or table is required for your next posts. I messaged Josh on the main Mattermost chat to check so you could always check there once he responds!
It was great getting to know you, Yuyang. Have a great weekend!
